BOBST EXPERT DAYS with almost 250 visitors
At this year's EXPERT DAYS at Bobst Meerbusch (3 to 5 April 2019), the focus was on the MASTER class machines by BOBST (Lausanne, Switzerland). For the first time, Bobst Meerbusch presented four of the most powerful production lines in live operation at its Competence Center. In terms of content, the event also covered the production of packaging from folding carton and corrugated board. The world's second largest BOBST sales and service company showed two high-end machines each for both markets: a MASTERCUT 106 PER flatbed die cutter and a MASTERFOLD 75 folder gluer for folding box production, a MASTERCUT 1.7 flatbed die cutter for corrugated board converters and a MASTERFOLD 230 folding carton gluer. The accompanying short presentations focused on the company's latest innovations, which enable customers to significantly increase efficiency in packaging production. The focus was on innovative services from BOBST.
"We welcomed a good 220 visitors from around 100 companies," said Bobst Meerbusch managing director Dirk Corsten, pleased with the enormous response. In addition to customers from German-speaking countries, guests from the Benelux countries, Poland, Russia and the Czech Republic also came. Simultaneous translation was provided for them. Including the representatives of the trade press and the employees of the participating partner companies Baumer hhs, BOXPLAN, Deutsche Leasing, Hesse Stanzwerkzeuge and LANTECH, the event even attracted almost 250 visitors. "With the in-house exhibition of Bobst Firenze in Florence, Italy, which also took place this week, BOBST presented the latest technologies and solutions for packaging production of the future to around 850 visitors within just a few days under the motto "Leading Innovation"”, Corsten stated.
In addition to consistent quality in packaging production, the topics of productivity and efficiency were a common theme throughout the event. During the live demonstrations, the four production machines were driven to their performance limits. In addition, job changes on the MASTERCUT 106 PER and the MASTERFOLD 75 demonstrated how quickly BOBST flatbed die cutters and folder gluers can be converted today.
For example, a machine operator switched the MASTERCUT 106 PER from the production of a larger cereal packaging with two labels to the punching of blanks of a smaller automatic packaging with 16 labels. During the changeover, which was completed in just nine minutes, the punching/creasing tools were replaced, among other things, using recyclable Pertinax matrices for the automatic packaging. With the MASTERFOLD 75, the order change was shown using the same packaging. A machine operator and a helper converted the entire folding carton gluer in just ten minutes. The MASTERFOLD 75, designed for maximum productivity, was equipped with an EASYFDEEDER 4 prefeeder with BATCH INVERTER 4 for the fastest feeding of blanks into the feeder and a fully automatic CARTONPACK 4 packaging system. This machine filled the folded and glued folding boxes into shipping cartons at maximum speed.
The presentations underlined the increasing importance of BOBST's innovative services for customers. Bernd Andree, service expert at Bobst Meerbusch, presented, for example, the interactive portal MyBobst, which allows customers to use state-of-the-art e-procurement for spare parts procurement. "In a password-protected area, MyBobst offers you a complete view of all your previous ordering processes and of all the machines you use from BOBST. You can access the entire spare parts catalogue for these machines and see both the availability and the prices of the desired spare parts. You have generated your orders with just a few mouse clicks," Andree said, referring to the central advantages of MyBobst for customers. Bobst Meerbusch now receives more than 30% of all spare parts orders via the portal. From an order value of €500, the company delivers spare parts free of charge, provided that the customers order them by standard shipping.
Compared to the previous customer events in Bobst Meerbusch's Competence Center, EXPERT DAYS 2019 had the character of an in-house exhibition. And this was very well received by the visitors. In addition to the presentations and live demonstrations, they were able to spread out over the machines and information stands of the participating partner companies and deal with their individual interests here. As a result, the response to the event was more positive than ever, as the evaluation of the completed evaluation forms showed. Dick van Bruggen, business director Germany & Benelux in BOBST Sheet-fed division: "The majority of our visitors have been to at least one customer event in the Competence Center of Bobst Meerbusch. But with this year's EXPERT DAYS on MASTER technology from BOBST, we succeeded in attracting many companies to our event that had never been to our company before.”
