27.02.2020 "Messe Düsseldorf is currently not considering postponing or canceling any upcoming events": With this statement to our sister portal verpackungwirtschaft.de, Sebastian Pflügge, press spokesman of interpack, counters all current speculation that is circulating throughout the industry regarding the postponement or cancellation of the international packaging trade fair in May.

Messe Düsseldorf underlines: interpack will not be cancelled.

As Pflügge emphasised, this is the official language of Messe Düsseldorf, which explicitly refers to interpack.

Safety has top priority

"For the upcoming fairs, there is still a high level of approval from exhibitors and visitors alike. Of course we take the concerns of our customers, guests, partners and neighbours regarding the coronavirus very seriously. Their safety is always our top priority," Pflügge continued. "As usual, there is a high level of hygiene and safety as well as good medical care at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre. We are closely monitoring current developments and are in direct contact with the authorities. There are currently no effects of the virus on public life in Düsseldorf".

Low risk

"Apart from that, we call for general prudence. According to the WHO, the Robert Koch Institute and the German authorities, the risk of infection with the new pathogen in Germany is currently low to moderate," the representative said. "The medical facilities on the exhibition grounds are always up to date and prepared. The close contact between all the bodies involved ensures that any new findings are exchanged and that measures for the exhibition grounds are adapted accordingly.
