Research and industry in dialogue

15.09.2020 As one of the innovation leaders in the field of plasma surface treatment, Plasmatreat GmbH (Steinhagen, Germany) has been sharing its know-how with the market for a long time. The newly founded "Plasmatreat Academy" now bundles the numerous further and advanced training courses under one roof. The aim: an intensive dialogue with customers, suppliers, science and research.

The application of plasma in surface technology is still relatively young and the need for information in industry is correspondingly great. Plasmatreat, world market leader in atmospheric-pressure plasma technology, has therefore been organising regular seminars, training courses and workshops on the subject of plasma and its possible applications for many years. Now the plasma experts are bundling their further and advanced training courses in the newly founded "Plasmatreat Academy" and at the same time expanding the portfolio by specialist lectures, congresses and events on selected topics.

A fruitful exchange is the basis for innovations

"The intensive dialogue with industry and science is to a certain extent part of Plasmatreat's corporate philosophy. Only if we understand our customers' production processes and if they in turn know what possibilities our plasma processes offer them are we in a position to develop new, innovative processes that meet the requirements of the market," emphasises academy director Erhard Krampe. "With the Academy we want to help build a bridge between research and concrete industrial application."

The academy's programme is broadly diversified and ranges from seminars on the fundamentals of plasma technology to training courses on specific topics and congresses with top-class speakers. In addition to events that appeal to participants from different fields, there are also individual events that are tailored to the requirements of a specific customer. The offer is aimed at developers and designers as well as project engineers and buyers. A special focus is on the operators of the plasma systems. Plasmatreat's prime objective is to make their work as easy as possible.

The Plasmatreat Academy carries plasma into the world

The Plasmatreat Academy was launched with online seminars. "We had to react flexibly to the changed situation because attendance events are unfortunately not possible at present to the extent we would like. Nevertheless, we want to bring our contents and topics closer to our customers because the demand is there," says Erhard Krampe. The concept works: Up to 250 people per topic took part. The digital offering is therefore being continuously expanded. Among other things, web seminars on the possible applications of atmospheric-pressure plasma in the printing and automotive industries are planned, as well as material-focused workshops on the plasma treatment of plastics, metals and glass. But in principle the Plasmatreat Academy is not only at home on the internet. As soon as face-to-face events are once again possible, the Academy is flexible in terms of location – be it in the Technology Center at the company's headquarters in Steinhagen, in the worldwide branches, at the customer's site or in hotels.
