As manufacturer of high-quality coated specialty papers, Mitsubishi HiTec Paper continues its path of innovation and investments. With increased activities in research & development, the implementation of new working methods and production processes, as well as the concentration on new products, the company from Bielefeld, Germany, shapes its future.

For many years, the company has been following a consequent investment policy. In 2014 and 2015, the production equipment and the energetic processes have been optimised on both sites (SM 3 Bielefeld: new roll moisturiser, SM 21 Bielefeld: new process control system and cooling water system, as well as surveillance optimisation, PM 1 Flensburg: new process control system). Productivity, production flexibility and economic efficiency therefore could be increased in all sites.

“Moreover, we have conducted intensive best practice analyses, implemented new working methods and adapted the organisational structure,” said managing director Gerhard Schoon. “Detailed market studies and a strengthening of R&D were the foundations of product diversification and the definition of new product fields.”

As a direct consequence of the company strategy, Mitsubishi HiTec Paper enters a new business field and offers BARRICOTE barrier papers for food packaging, which are reported to be especially environmentally friendly and innovative. The purely paper-based products combine sustainability and efficient barrier protection against water, fat and mineral oil migration. BARRICOTE is currently being field-tested with select strategic partners.
