Heraeus Noblelight opens state-of-the-art UV LED module production
Heraeus Noblelight, a leading supplier of UV LED systems based in Hanau, Germany, has recently opened a new production line, which is said to fulfil the latest technological requirements. The state-of-the-art line for the production of UV LED modules offers high-quality tailored solutions for industrial curing and drying applications.
At the company headquarters in Hanau, Germany, Heraeus Noblelight invested in a production line that enables access to high quality materials from the proprietary technology corporation. Moreover, R&D lines are used for the development of new products and applications. In only 84 days, a one story storage facility was transformed into what is reported to be the most modern and largest production line for UV LED modules in Europe. The centrepiece of the production is a gold wire bonder. It realises the extraordinarily robust electrical contacting of the LED chips, which is even claimed to surpass industry standards. The production was designed according to the latest lean and quality standards; including clean room technology of the class ISO 14644-1 / ISO class 4. With the professional production infrastructure and the professional chip-on-board assembly line, a high production volume is being realised. High-performance LED fields can be manufactured according to the demands of the customers. For a constant and high quality of the products, KPIs are collected continuously throughout the entire, fully-automated production process and controls are being performed.“Our new UV LED module production is based on a sophisticated quality concept that allows a highly-efficient material flow throughout the entire production. Systems that consist of many hundreds of parts can be manufactured efficiently and with high quality. This is very important for highly complex industrial applications,” explains Jan Strauß, head of OED production at Heraeus Noblelight. The company manufactures its new plug & play system Semray at the new production site. The UV LED solution is expected to set new standards in terms of production flexibility and efficiency. Highly effective micro optics bundle the UV radiation and minimise stray light. Thus, UV curing can be performed up to 30% faster or with significantly higher operating distances. Thanks to the plug & play concept, modules can be exchanged quickly and easily within a few seconds – for instance to reduce cleaning and maintenance efforts or to switch to new technologies as well as other wavelengths.
