The industrial adhesives supplier DELO Industrie Klebstoffe from Windach, Germany, continues its strategy of internationalisation and is from now on represented by a subsidiary in Japan. The manufacturer of high-tech adhesives wants to better fulfil the requirements of its Japanese customers and expand distribution for specialty adhesives.

There is barely a country that is as well-positioned in technological terms as Japan. The companies there belong to the leaders in electronics and automotive. In order to establish a strong position on the Japanese high-tech market, DELO has now founded a subsidiary in Yokohama, which belongs to the metropolitan area of Tokyo. Besides some renowned automotive and electronics corporations, APPEX, the Japanese distribution partner of DELO is located here. The important industrial cities of Nagoya and Kyoto can be reached quickly and comfortably from Yokohama as well.

With the 100% subsidiary DELO Industrial Adhesives (Japan) Inc., the company now formally puts its business in Japan on a solid base. Moreover, it will be able to better fulfil customer demands. The support structure for the region is expected to be strengthened, the cooperation with APPEX intensified and sales extended.

Both in electronics and automotive, the two main application fields for the specialty adhesives “made in Germany”, DELO wants to seize the market potential. “Japan has a very competitive market with strong local competition,” says Robert Saller, managing director at DELO and responsible for international sales. “This is a challenge for our Japanese team and ourselves, but we were already able to gain new customers and are optimistic about the future.”

In the meantime, DELO is active in about 60 countries with subsidiaries, representatives or partners. The company will keep on expanding and is currently in talks with potential distribution partners in Vietnam.
