Focus on automation in the converting industry
One of the sore points in these processes for many converting companies is the handling and packaging of sometimes very different types of rolls. To solve this, more and more fully automated production systems and solutions are currently in demand. This is where KOCH Industrieanlagen GmbH (Dernbach, Germany) comes in. The family-owned company develops, plans and implements innovative, powerful and flexible robot systems together with its customers. These can be used in all factory areas. Customers include specialists such as LIVEO (Bilcare), Südpack, Sealed Air, Coveris, Wipak and Polifilm.
“We are seeing a clear trend in the industry towards plant automation, which has been further reinforced by the Corona pandemic. The drivers are the increased desire for hygienic production and the wish to minimise the human factor as a source of error. Companies that miss out on this development will have problems surviving in the future,” explains Jan-Henning Röseler, product manager converting at KOCH Industrieanlagen GmbH. In addition, systems are desired that react flexibly to different products and batch sizes. Therefore, the automation experts developed the ‘Robot Flex Packer’. This system allows companies to flexibly und fully automatically wrap rolls with differing diameters through film welding. The software EasyReelLoader simplifies the palletisation process, since users can easily create new layer patterns or adapt existing ones.
