New CEO for Flexible Packaging and Engineered Materials

07.04.2022 Austrian Thomas Ott, 54, is the new CEO for the Flexible Packaging and Engineered Materials business units of international packaging and paper manufacturer Mondi.

Born in Vienna, Ott looks back on an impressive international career in the industry, including positions in Italy and the USA. He began his career at Mondi in 1995 in the financial controlling department and in the following years took on leading positions in various business segments. Most recently, Ott worked for the packaging manufacturer Amcor in Switzerland.

Successor to Peter Orisich

As CEO for Mondi Flexible Packaging and Engineered Materials, Thomas Ott is responsible for a turnover of around €4bn with a management span of more than 12 000 employees in 29 countries. In this position, he succeeds Peter Orisich, who has retired.

The industry expert sees the biggest challenge in the development of sustainable, recyclable packaging solutions as well as effective measures against climate change: "Mondi's entire business activity is driven by a commitment to sustainability. Under our MAP2030 action plan, we aim to make all Mondi products reusable, recyclable or compostable by 2025, and we are stepping up our climate change programmes and committing to reducing our greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2050."

Ensuring diversity

In doing so, Thomas Ott relies on a diverse, motivated and inclusive team: "It is and will remain one of our main tasks to ensure all forms of diversity throughout the company," Ott emphasises.

Thomas Ott lives and works in Vienna, is married and has three children.
