Westland was founded in 1920 in Bredenscheid near Hattingen / Ruhr in North Rhine-Westphalia by Ernst zur Nedden. Despite strong internationalization with 14 production sites in 10 countries, Westland has remained a medium-sized family business to this day.
Georg zur Nedden is already the third generation to manage the company with its current headquarters in Melle-Westerhausen, Germany. "This location offers not only an optimal infrastructure but also connections to various universities with which we cooperate closely and from which we recruit our skilled workers," explains the owner.
The Westland Group employs around 800 people worldwide, 300 of them in Melle alone. There, in the large factory at Westlandstraße, the heart of production, the mixing department, still beats, while at other locations it is mainly "processing," says zur Nedden. Engineers and materials technicians develop special rubber formulations for customers and applications worldwide.
Westland is a leading supplier of technically sophisticated elastomer components, both as coated rollers and elastomer molded parts. The following industries are supplied:
- Mechanical engineering with a focus on printing machines
- Printing industry
- Control equipment industry
- Household appliance industry
- Fittings and pumps industry
- Plastics, wood, food, steel and textile industry
"In our corporate objectives, we have laid down a high quality standard with which our long-standing business relationships have grown," adds zur Nedden. "From this consolidated position, we also want to work for new customer groups and their tasks."
